Who?
- A selected group of twelve Grade 6, 7 and 8 students from Castlegar and area accompanied by two Group Leaders.
What?
- Meet the student delegation from Castlegar’s Japanese Sister City, Embetsu.
- The opportunity of a lifetime to visit Embetsu and touring in Japan.
When?
- Host a student from Embetsu tentatively August 7-12, 2024
- Travelling to Japan for 14 days in July 2025
Why?
- To reinforce the relationship of goodwill and understanding between the young people of Castlegar and Embetsu.
Important Dates
- April 30th, 2024 at 7pm – Information meeting for interested students and their parents at Twin Rivers Elementary School in the Library
- May 1st, 2024 – Application Packages will be available at City Hall for those who could not attend the student and parent information meeting
- May 15th, 2024 at 4pm – Deadline for applications to be dropped off at City Hall
- May 25th, 2024 9am – 12pm – Applicant interviews (accompanied by at least one parent) at Twin Rivers Elementary School
- Tentatively August 7-12th, 2024 – Host Embetsu students in Castlegar
- Mid July, 2025 – 2 week trip to Japan
