Who?
- A selected group of up to eight Grade 5, 6 and 7 students from Castlegar and area accompanied by two Group Leaders.
What?
- Meet the student delegation from Castlegar’s Japanese Sister City, Embetsu.
- The opportunity of a lifetime to visit Embetsu and touring in Japan.
When?
- Host a student from Embetsu August 2026
- Travel to Japan for up to two weeks in July 2027
Why?
- To reinforce the relationship of goodwill and understanding between the young people of Castlegar and Embetsu.
Important Dates
- February 3, 2026 at 7:00pm – Information meeting for interested students and their parents at the Castlegar Community Complex. Application Packages will be available at the meeting. If you cannot attend the meeting, applications will be available at City Hall starting February 4, 2026.
- Feb 4, 2026 – Application Packages will be available at City Hall for those who could not attend the student and parent information meeting.
- Feb 17, 2026 at 4:00pm – Deadline for applications to be dropped off at City Hall.
